Automatic Vehicle Location - GRM-001

GRM-001

Full Featured Data Logger
The GRM Logger is an Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) unit with a difference - it's also a data logger. The large amount of on-board memory coupled with a range of input/output options gives the system the flexibility to be used in a variety of applications where both position and condition are important.

The GRM Logger has a powerful 16/32 bit microprocessor capable of addressing up to 1Mb of SRAM for high speed data logging and manipulation of data. It includes the following interfaces:

  • Datahead communications interface - for connection to a datahead display and keypad termial. An audio interface is also included allowing the user to interact directly with a connected radio transceiver.
  • Radio communications interface - including an itegrated audio modem and control signals for simple connection to a radio transiever.
  • Radio control interface - for communications with radio transcievers that include a serial interface, eg. transievers with an on-board modem, or MAP27 systems.
  • Internal GPS interface - designed for connection to a Motorola Oncore® GPS receiver. This receiver can be comfortably mounted inside the Logger enclosure.
  • Digital input/output interface - for control and monitoring of digital sensors.
  • Two relay-based switch outputs and relay-based switched power output.
  • Optional interfaces include an external GPS interface, an analog interface for sampling up to eight channels, a spare interface for connection to external equipment, and two timer inputs allowing collection of frequency, period or other timing based information.
  • A rugged power supply allows the unit to be connected directly to 12V vehicle systems. An internal backup battery protects on-board data.

The Logger can be made to continously log the vehicle location onto on-board memory if a suitable communications interface to the base is not available.
